Accessibility and Inclusion Policy

Get Skilled Access - Accessibility and Inclusion Policy

Purpose and scope

Get Skilled Access (GSA) is committed to creating inclusive, accessible and respectful environments where people with disability can participate on an equitable basis.

This Accessibility and Inclusion Policy outlines GSA’s approach to embedding accessibility and inclusion across our work, including our services, events, communications, digital platforms and organisational practices. It reflects our belief that accessibility is not an add-on, but a core part of good design, good practice and good outcomes.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • all GSA employees, contractors, consultants and volunteers;
  • people engaging with GSA services, programs, events or training;
  • GSA communications, digital platforms and public-facing materials;
  • partners, suppliers and collaborators engaged in work on behalf of GSA where relevant.

Our principles

GSA’s approach to accessibility and inclusion is guided by the following principles:

Equity and dignity: People with disability have the right to participate with dignity, independence and choice. Access should enable participation on the same basis as others, wherever reasonably possible.

Lived experience and co-design: We value lived experience as expertise. Wherever possible, accessibility solutions are informed by consultation, feedback and co-design with people with disability.

Proactive and embedded access: Accessibility is most effective when considered early. We aim to identify and reduce barriers at the planning, design and delivery stages — rather than responding only when issues arise.

Choice and voluntary disclosure: Disclosure of disability or access needs is always optional. People are supported to share information only where they choose to, and only to enable appropriate adjustments.

Continuous improvement: Accessibility and inclusion are ongoing practices. We actively seek feedback, reflect on what works, and improve over time.

Accessibility in our services and work

GSA works across a range of contexts including consulting, training, events, audits and advisory work. We are committed to:

  • designing and delivering services that consider accessibility from the outset;
  • offering reasonable adjustments to support participation, where requested;
  • using inclusive facilitation and delivery practices;
  • working flexibly with clients, partners and participants to respond to access needs;
  • recognising that access needs vary and are not one-size-fits-all.

Accessible communication and events

GSA aims to ensure that our communications and events are inclusive and accessible. This may include, where appropriate and feasible:

  • clear and plain language communication;
  • accessible digital formats;
  • captions for video content;
  • consideration of Auslan interpreting, audio description or other supports;
  • inviting participants to share access requirements during registration;

Digital accessibility

GSA is committed to accessible digital experiences for all users. Our approach to digital accessibility includes:

  • striving to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA;
  • reviewing website accessibility on a regular basis;
  • addressing accessibility issues as they are identified;
  • welcoming feedback to help us improve.

Further detail is available in our Website Accessibility Statement, available via the footer of our website.

Disability related information and privacy

Any disability-related or access-related information shared with GSA is provided voluntarily and used only to support accessibility and inclusion. All personal and health information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legislation.

Our people and workplace

GSA is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible workplace. We aim to:

  • support reasonable workplace adjustments for employees and contractors;
  • create an environment where people feel safe to request adjustments;
  • build disability confidence and awareness across our team;
  • uphold respectful, inclusive behaviour in line with our Code of Ethics and Conduct.

Partners and suppliers

Where appropriate, GSA seeks to work with partners and suppliers who share our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, particularly where services, venues or digital platforms may impact access for participants or the public.

Feedback, concerns and complaints

We welcome feedback on accessibility and inclusion across all aspects of our work. Feedback helps us improve and respond to emerging needs.

Concerns or complaints related to accessibility can be raised via the contact details on our website or through our Privacy Policy page.

Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains relevant, accurate and aligned with GSA’s work, legislative requirements and best practice.
